Reporting to the Project Director, the Medical Director will provide clinical leadership for the BORNConnect – digital OPR+ Program, a modernized, interoperable digital Ontario Perinatal Record which will enhance the quality and safety of patient care throughout pregnancy through seamless exchange of information and data insights. The Medical Director will work with the team at BORN to modernize how perinatal information is gathered, shared and used across Ontario to improve safety, continuity of care and clinical decision-making for pregnant people and their families. This role will provide critical insight into the design and implementation of a new and innovative provincial tool to ensure it meets the needs of clinicians, enhances patient care, aligns with emerging medical records and practice management technology, and reflects the quality of care priorities to achieve and improve parental and perinatal health outcomes.
The Medical Director will take the lead in supporting co-design and consultation efforts with community and hospital-based clinicians and care teams across Ontario to inform the development of BORNConnect – digital OPR+ and champion its integration into the diverse care landscape. The Medical Director will contribute and help resource expert clinical knowledge, experience and leadership to deliver the program in bridging clinical practice and digital transformation, and advocating for interoperable, user-centered, equitable solutions across the healthcare system.
With demonstrated clinical leadership and expertise, the preferred candidate will be an Ontario-based practicing, or recently practicing, family physician or obstetrician/gynecologist in community practice, in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, with at least five years of clinical experience in, and a deep passion for, prenatal and/or perinatal care, quality improvement initiatives, health informatics and knowledge of electronic health records. A Nurse practitioner or Midwife with comparable background may also be qualified for the role. In addition, the ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of change leadership utilizing digital health technology. An advanced degree in Public Health, Business, Health Informatics, or Health Administration would be welcome attributes.
This position is 0.4 FTE, remote/hybrid with some provincial travel, and is a contract position for a three- year period with an expectation to be on-site for a minimum of one day/week.

Our client, Stratford General Hospital, part of the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA), is a 120-bed hospital and the largest hospital in the HPHA. It is the regional referral centre for Huron and Perth County residents, offering a broad range of medical and surgical inpatient services. Surgical specialties include General, Orthopedics, Urology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, ENT, Plastics, and Ophthalmology.
The Stratford site also provides Critical Care and Neonatal Intensive Care Units, Maternal Child, Telemetry/Stroke (District Stroke Centre), Mental Health, Complex Continuing Care and Rehabilitation in-patient services. The Emergency Department is staffed by FRCPC and EM physicians and sees over 35,000 patients per year.
Candidates must be certified, or be eligible for certification, by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and hold, or be eligible for, licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. With 6 FRCPC Anesthesiologists and 1 FM/A working at the Stratford site, the Anesthesiology Department covers the Operating Rooms, Obstetrical Services, and Preoperative work including 11,000 elective surgeries, 676 hip/knee arthroplasty surgeries, 1,200 deliveries including 350-400 C-sections (Level 2 NICU), and 300 pediatric cases per year.
Anesthesiologists at HPHA have the opportunity to teach and mentor residents and medical students from the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University, with professional staff members eligible to hold a University appointment.

WPSHC serves a unique population of 25,000 permanent residents and over 100,000 seasonal residents. It is situated at the heart of the world’s largest freshwater archipelago and within one of Ontario’s most popular recreational locations. Located in the centre of the Georgian Bay Mnidoo Gamii Biosphere, a region of global ecological significance as designated by UNESCO, the region offers stunning year-round opportunities for outdoor exploration and enjoyment. With 70 acute care beds and an attached 110-bed long term care facility, WPSHC offers inpatient and outpatient acute care services, including emergency and intensive care, medical/surgical care, maternal/child care, diagnostic and rehabilitation services. Diagnostics on-site include 24/7 access to laboratory and diagnostic imaging (CT, XRAY) as well as echocardiography, and stress tests.
The Intensive Care Unit is a six-bed, level two closed ICU that includes centralized monitoring and ventilator capacity. The unit provides support to patients with complex respiratory, cardiac and GI conditions. It also serves as a surgical step-down unit. There is strong subspecialist/tertiary support from Health Sciences North.
The Department of Internal Medicine is expanding their program to a fifth internist. Opportunities exist for a General Internal Medicine Specialist to join the team, to staff a closed ICU, and provide consultation services to the Emergency Department and in-patient units within a collegial work environment. In addition to General Internal Medicine and Intensive Care practice, excellent practice opportunities exist for candidates with practice interests in Cardiology, Respirology, Geriatrics, and Endocrinology, as well as other clinical practice areas.
Successful candidates will be certified, or eligible for certification, by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and hold, or be eligible for, licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. CPSO pathway licensure is easily available for US Board Certified Physicians.
Preferred candidates will bring clinical excellence and teamwork to ensure that WPSHC delivers high quality patient care through a well functioning Internal Medicine and Intensive Care service.
This position includes a very attractive package remuneration package including a $105K signing bonus for the Northern Physician Initiative with a Return of Service Agreement. Relocation costs are negotiable and turnkey private office is provided on site where the physician can see private patients, either in post-hospitalization follow-up or as referred by other physicians in the community. Remuneration is Fee-for-Service with On-call funding.

WRH is seeking full-time or part-time Emergency Medicine Physicians to contribute to the top tier care provided in the Department of Emergency Medicine.
Successful candidates will be CCFP-EM, or ABEM, or FRCPC certified, or CCFP certified with Emergency Medicine experience, and must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. CPSO pathway licensure is easily available for US Board Certified Physicians with new regulations implemented in 2023 that have created a straight forward licensure process without the requirement for supervision.
