  • Building strong partnerships both provincially and nationally with specific linkages to the Department of Health and Community Services, the College of Physicians and Surgeons and the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University

 
This position functions with a wide latitude of authority and responsibility to ensure that a quality service is provided for the organization serving the administrative needs of the medical staff.  As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the incumbent acts in the best interest of the medical staff and other internal and external stakeholders who liaise with the Medical Services Department.  The Administrative Director is responsible for the formulation and implementation of the Medical Services strategic and operational plans, goals and objectives functioning in alignment with Eastern Health’s goals, objectives, policies, procedures and Medical Bylaws.  
 
The ideal candidate will possess a Masters Degree in Business Administration, Health Administration or equivalent experience. The successful candidate will have at least five to seven years of progressive leadership experience in the health care field with strong strategic management capabilities and the capacity to engage others in the administration of the Medical Affairs portfolio to achieve organizational goals.  The preferred individual will have top tier leadership, relationship building, process management, negotiation and decision-making skills.  Experience and knowledge of process improvement & quality assurance systems as well as budget management are required.

The laboratory is full service including chemistry, haematology, transfusion services, microbiology and pathology.  With a complement of 4 FTE Pathologists, the pathology department processes approximately 13,800 surgical cases and 2000 cytology cases each year.
